Safety Tips for Cardio
Here’s how to stay safe while getting your heart pumping:
Doctor’s orders: Chat with your doc before jumping into a new workout routine. They’ll check your health and give you personalized advice.
Slow and steady: Don’t go all-out on day one. Start with short, 10-15 minute sessions, 3 times a week. Keep it moderate – you should be able to talk, but not sing.
Be kind to your joints: Stick to low-impact exercises. Think walking, swimming, or cycling. Your knees will thank you.
Form matters: Move smoothly and don’t hold your breath. No jerky motions, please!
Body talk: If you feel chest pain, dizziness, or can’t catch your breath, STOP.
H2O and chill: Drink water and dress for the weather. Light, breathable clothes are your friends.
Gear up: Wear shoes that fit well and support you. If you’re cycling, don’t forget that helmet!
Buddy system: Exercise with friends or join a class. It’s more fun, and you’ve got backup if needed.
Walking
Walking is the perfect cardio for seniors. It’s easy on your joints, needs no fancy gear, and does wonders for your health.
Why walking rocks:
It’s gentle on your knees and hips
Gets your heart pumping
Costs next to nothing
You can do it anywhere, anytime
The CDC says if you’re 65+, aim for 150 minutes of walking each week. That’s just 30 minutes a day, five days a week.

Today, those evergreens stand tall, vying for the coveted spot in the annual tree lighting ceremony. Though Rachel traded small-town life for a San Francisco career, she’s not about to let Holden’s noble fir steal the limelight without a spirited showdown. With her bags packed, she returns home, but the surprise awaiting her might not only challenge her determination but also her heart. |
