In Terrier Transgression, a woman finds herself falling for her coworker, Charles Longfellow III, while juggling a high-stakes murder case. Using her unusual gift, she communicates with Yo-Yo, a terrier witness whose fuzzy memory holds the key to solving the crime. Amid the chaos, her snarky cat and growing feelings complicate the investigation, making for a witty cozy mystery with romance and humor.

On this day in 1984, the iconic Brat Pack film “The Breakfast Club” wrapped its principal photography in Illinois, setting the stage for its 1985 release. The movie would go on to define a generation, capturing the struggles and friendships of high school students in a single Saturday detention. It remains a pop culture touchstone for teen angst, ’80s fashion, and classic John Hughes storytelling.

Genealogy Travel: Tracing Your Roots

For many, genealogy isn’t just a hobby—it’s a journey into the past that connects us to our family’s story. But what if you could go beyond census records, family trees, and old photographs? Genealogy travel allows you to walk the streets where your ancestors lived, visit the churches, schools, and homes they knew, and immerse yourself in the history that shaped your family.

Planning a genealogy trip starts with research. Gather as much information as you can about your ancestors’ hometowns, occupations, and significant life events. Local archives, libraries, and historical societies often have valuable records that don’t appear online. Once you’ve identified locations of interest, create an itinerary that balances research with exploration. Visiting cemeteries, landmarks, and museums can provide insights and help you experience the places your family called home.

Technology also makes genealogy travel easier than ever. GPS-enabled apps, digital archives, and genealogy databases can guide you directly to historical sites. Some travelers even hire local genealogists or guides to help navigate unfamiliar regions, especially overseas. This can uncover hidden gems—like a long-forgotten family farm or a small town hall with unique records—that add depth and meaning to your journey.

Genealogy travel isn’t only about the past. It’s also a chance to engage with living relatives. Reconnecting with distant cousins or family members can turn a simple research trip into a meaningful reunion. Sharing stories, photographs, and traditions often creates memories that will last a lifetime.

Finally, remember to take the experience at your own pace. Genealogy travel can be emotionally powerful, especially when visiting sites connected to family hardships or triumphs. Allow time for reflection, journaling, or photography to capture your journey in a personal and lasting way.

Whether you’re tracing a single branch of your family tree or uncovering a multi-generational story, genealogy travel is a unique blend of adventure, education, and connection. It offers a tangible link to your heritage, transforming names and dates into places, experiences, and stories you can touch, see, and remember.

Women Often Face Delays in Cancer Diagnosis and How to Stay Ahead

Research shows that women, particularly over 60, are often diagnosed with cancer later than men, even when symptoms are similar. Early signs in women can be subtle or different from what doctors typically expect, which may lead to symptoms being attributed to stress, aging, or minor conditions rather than triggering immediate tests.

Gender bias and societal roles also play a part. Women’s complaints are sometimes taken less seriously, and many delay seeking care due to caregiving responsibilities or dismissing symptoms as normal aging. Screening practices that taper off with age can further contribute to delays.

Awareness and advocacy can make a difference. Women who clearly describe persistent symptoms, ask questions, and seek second opinions are more likely to receive timely evaluations. Trusting instincts and being proactive about health can help reduce delays and improve outcomes.

Ohio Siblings’ Quick Thinking Helps Save School Bus Driver

In Ashland, Ohio, a brother and sister are being praised for their calm, heroic response when their school bus driver began suffering a medical emergency while driving. Eight-year-old Catrina noticed the driver having trouble breathing and quickly alerted her older brother Charlie, age 14, who grabbed the bus’s radio and called the school for help. Their actions, along with the support of another student who called 911 and helped keep everyone safe, helped get the driver to the hospital, where she later recovered, and likely prevented a much worse outcome for the entire bus full of students.
