Learn from this investor’s $100m mistake

In 2010, a Grammy-winning artist passed on investing $200K in an emerging real estate disruptor. That stake could be worth $100+ million today.

One year later, another real estate disruptor, Zillow, went public. This time, everyday investors had regrets, missing pre-IPO gains.

Now, a new real estate innovator, Pacaso – founded by a former Zillow exec – is disrupting a $1.3T market. And unlike the others, you can invest in Pacaso as a private company.

Pacaso’s co-ownership model has generated $1B+ in luxury home sales and service fees, earned $110M+ in gross profits to date, and received backing from the same VCs behind Uber, Venmo, and eBay. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

When entrepreneur Luc Starck dies under suspicious circumstances in the heart of Switzerland’s crypto valley, the pressure on police to solve the case is intense. On this day in 1969, the Woodstock Music & Art Fair opened in Bethel, New York.
What began as a small, ticketed music festival quickly turned into a legendary gathering of over 400,000 people—many arriving without tickets after fences were torn down. The event, featuring iconic performances by Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Santana, and The Who, became a defining symbol of the 1960s counterculture and the peace movement. Despite mud, rain, and food shortages, the festival is remembered for its atmosphere of unity, music, and protest against war.

Home Gym Essentials for Active Aging

As we age, staying active becomes not only important—it becomes essential. Regular exercise helps maintain muscle mass, improve balance, reduce joint stiffness, and boost mood and brain health. And the best part? You don’t need a flashy gym or expensive equipment to stay fit. With just a few affordable and senior-friendly tools, you can create a home gym that supports your wellness goals in a safe and comfortable setting.

1. Resistance Bands

Lightweight and versatile, resistance bands are perfect for strength training without putting too much strain on your joints. They come in different levels of tension and are excellent for building muscle, improving flexibility, and even aiding in physical therapy exercises.

2. Hand Weights (1–5 lbs)

Dumbbells in lighter weights help you maintain muscle tone and bone density, especially in the arms and shoulders. Start with just a few reps and increase as you feel stronger. Even simple bicep curls or shoulder presses done from a seated position can make a difference over time.

3. Stability Ball or Chair

A stability ball is great for balance exercises and core work, but if that feels too wobbly, a sturdy chair with no arms can be used for seated workouts and support during standing exercises. Many low-impact routines can be done entirely from a chair, making this a must-have for any senior fitness setup.

4. Non-Slip Yoga Mat

Whether you're stretching, doing yoga, or just lying down for core work, a non-slip mat provides comfort and safety. It cushions your knees and spine, and reduces the risk of slipping during movements.

5. Pedal Exerciser or Mini Bike

These small, portable machines are wonderful for getting in a low-impact cardio workout without leaving your chair. Great for both upper and lower body, they’re especially helpful on days when outdoor walks aren’t possible.

6. Foam Roller or Massage Ball

Recovery is just as important as the workout itself. These tools help release muscle tension, improve circulation, and ease soreness. They’re an excellent addition to post-exercise routines.

Final Tip: Start small and keep it consistent. Even 10–15 minutes of movement a day adds up. Most importantly, listen to your body and choose activities you enjoy—because fitness at any age should feel good.

Global Stories, Local Joy: Discovering the Power of International TV

Have you ever been swept away by a mystery set in snowy Scandinavia or a political drama unfolding in a far-off land? That’s the magic of international television. Many of us are finding richer storytelling, deeper character development, and cultural insights from shows made outside the U.S.—all from the comfort of home.

These series often deliver more than entertainment: they offer glimpses into other worlds, from Nordic noir and geopolitical thrillers to historical dramas rooted in uniquely local stories. Watching in original languages with subtitles not only honors the authentic performance—it can also spark new understanding and even reawaken your interest in foreign tongues. One viewer recalls how this habit led to renewed study of Swedish, German, French, Spanish—and even Hebrew.

Streaming international shows can be more than relaxing evening viewing—it can feel like a gentle form of “teletherapy.” As we follow characters’ struggles, transformations, and triumphs, we experience empathy, catharsis, and a comforting reminder that we’re not alone in life’s challenges. Over time, these stories become part of our homes, our routines, and our understanding of the world.

So if you're craving something fresh—or simply bridging memories of travel, culture, or curiosity—consider giving your next show a passport.

Slang Phrase of the Day

Phrase: Brain hug

Meaning: A brain hug is a comforting thought, idea, or moment of mental clarity that feels emotionally soothing—like a warm embrace for your mind. It can come from a nostalgic memory, a meaningful conversation, a good book, or even a favorite tune that brings you peace.

In a sentence: “After my morning coffee and crossword puzzle, I turned on a playlist of ‘60s jazz standards—and let me tell you, the memories that came flooding back gave me a brain hug I didn’t know I needed.”

Good News of the Day

Major Breakthrough as Scientists Identify Bacterium Behind Decade‑Long Sea Star Die‑off

Scientists have finally unraveled the mystery behind a devastating disease that has killed billions of sea stars along North America’s Pacific coast since 2013. After years of investigation, they pinpointed Vibrio pectenicida, a bacterium present in the sea stars’ circulatory fluid, as the cause of the catastrophic wasting disease. This discovery opens the door to promising conservation efforts—including identifying resilient individuals, breeding survivors, and exploring treatments like probiotics—to help restore these vital marine species and protect ocean ecosystems.
