How to Cast or Mirror Your Device to the TV
In today’s connected world, streaming content from your smartphone, tablet, or computer directly to your TV has become an essential skill. Whether you want to watch family photos, stream your favorite shows, or share a presentation, casting or mirroring your device to a larger screen can make the experience much more enjoyable.
Casting vs. Mirroring
It’s important to understand the difference. Casting typically allows you to send specific content, like a video or song, to your TV while continuing to use your device for other tasks. Mirroring, on the other hand, duplicates everything on your device screen onto your TV, including apps, notifications, and anything else visible on your device.
Using Built-In Features
Most modern smart TVs come with built-in casting capabilities. For Android devices, Google’s Chromecast or the built-in “Cast” feature allows you to easily connect. For Apple devices, AirPlay works seamlessly with Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible smart TVs. Simply ensure your device and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network, select the cast or mirror option, and follow the prompts.
Using Apps or Hardware
Many streaming apps, like YouTube, Netflix, and Spotify, include a casting icon that lets you send content to your TV effortlessly. If your TV doesn’t support casting or mirroring, hardware solutions like Chromecast, Roku, or Amazon Fire Stick can fill the gap. These devices plug into your TV and connect to your home Wi-Fi, making the setup straightforward.

Yesterday’s Poll Results: If you were to use your home equity, what would be your top priority?

These results show a clear split in how people feel about tapping into their home equity. The largest group prefers not to use it at all, suggesting a strong desire to preserve home ownership as a source of long-term security and peace of mind. For many, the home remains a safety net rather than a financial tool.
Among those open to using equity, practical needs rise to the top. Home improvements and accessibility upgrades stand out as the most appealing option, reflecting a focus on aging comfortably and safely in place. Paying off higher-interest debt also drew interest, highlighting a cautious, financially strategic mindset rather than a desire for indulgent spending.
Fewer respondents prioritized travel, lifestyle goals, or supporting family, and healthcare-related uses appeared lower than expected—perhaps indicating hope that existing savings or insurance will cover those needs. Overall, the poll suggests that when home equity is considered, it’s viewed less as “extra money” and more as a serious decision tied to stability, comfort, and long-term planning.
TOP COMMENTS
“We are retired, our house is not paid off (approximately 5-6 years left), so we have no interest in using home equity. We've been working on home improvements as we can.”
“I recently took out a home equity loan to pay off credit cards and do some repairs and improvements on my home. The balance is in my savings to augment my set income when needed. With times being what they are it is comforting to know that I have a cushion.”
“I have never been in a position to own a home, I have been and will be for my whole life a renter. I got my first job at 10 years old, and have at least worked babysitting or housecleaning as a teen. Then worked low wage jobs while earning a masters degree and teaching credential at 49. I taught for 20 years - paying off my student loans. Now I have my pension, but no way to get a down payment on a house.”
“I would purchase a second home in a warm state & also use it as a rental property to earn income.”
“We are currently debt free. We own our home and our income oversees our daily needs. No extravagance.”
“Home equity is a great emergency source, let it grow.”
Take Charge of Your Care — Partnering With Doctors for Better Medical Decisions
Today’s healthcare landscape encourages patients to be active participants in their medical decisions rather than passively following orders. In the past, patients were often expected to accept whatever their doctors prescribed without asking questions, but times have changed: modern medicine now emphasizes shared decision‑making, where healthcare providers and patients work together using evidence, medical expertise, and personal values to choose the best path forward. This approach helps people feel heard, understood, and confident in their care choices, especially when facing complex or serious health scenarios.
Taking an active role means preparing before appointments — knowing what you want, gathering information, and asking clear questions — so conversations with healthcare professionals are productive and supportive. It also involves reading test results and materials provided through patient portals, seeking clarification when medical terminology is confusing, and even getting a second opinion if something doesn’t feel right. In doing so, patients shift from being passive recipients of care to empowered partners in managing their health and well‑being.
Ultimately, embracing shared decision‑making isn’t just about better outcomes — it’s about feeling respected and understood in one of the most personal parts of life: your own health care. Being informed, prepared, and confident can make even difficult choices less intimidating and more aligned with what matters most to you.

Study Suggests Full‑Fat Cheese and Cream Linked to Lower Dementia Risk
A large long‑term study tracking nearly 28,000 adults over about 25 years has found an association between eating higher amounts of full‑fat cheese and cream and a lower risk of developing dementia later in life. Participants who regularly consumed about two slices of high‑fat cheese daily showed roughly a 13 % lower risk of all‑cause dementia compared with those who ate little or none, and a notably stronger *29 % lower risk of vascular dementia, a type linked to blood‑flow issues in the brain. Those who consumed modest amounts of high‑fat cream also showed a reduced dementia risk of around 16 % in the research. While the findings are intriguing and challenge some long‑held assumptions about dietary fat and brain health, experts stress that the study does not prove that cheese or cream directly prevents dementia — it simply identifies a correlation that warrants further research to understand the relationship better and how it fits into overall diet and lifestyle.
