On This Day In History — On this day in 1965, the American movie Doctor Zhivago, David Lean's adaptation of Boris Pasternak's novel, had its world premiere; the hugely popular drama, which starred Omar Sharif and Julie Christie, became one of cinema's highest-grossing films.

Longevity Tip Of The Day
Spice it up — Eating hot chili peppers may add years to your life. In a 2016 analysis of the dietary habits of more than 16,000 men and women over 23 years, those who reported eating hot peppers reduced their risk of dying by 13 percent. Not a fan of those peppers? Even a little spice can have health benefits. That’s because the body produces endorphins to reduce the heat from the capsaicin in the peppers; those endorphins also reduce pain and inflammation.

Nuclear Waste from Unused Weapons Is Being Safely Turned to Glass After Leaking for Years
A public-private partnership will soon see one of the world’s largest nuclear waste treatment facilities begin operations, as liquid and solid waste is turned into large bricks of non-radioactive glass.
The Hanford nuclear cleanup site in Washington state, commissioned by the Department of Energy and built by Bechtel National, takes nuclear waste and mixes it with traditional glass-forming materials at high temperatures to make solid glass that can be safely stored underground.
