Senior Living News
Most of us have encountered a true narcissist sometime in our lives. If we admit it, we have come across multiple people with this challenging personality disorder at various times in our life. First off, I am not a professional therapist and cannot diagnose NPD (narcissistic personality disorder), and I think that many people throw around that word to describe selfish people when it is not truly NPD. I have also conducted a TON of research on the topic and can talk intelligently about it.
It is a challenging journey to navigate around a narcissist, yet it is a necessary step towards reclaiming your emotional autonomy. Let’s face it: those of us in our 60s and beyond have weathered the storms of relationships, whether married or single, and many of us have broken free from the grasp of a narcissist.
Longevity Tip Of The Day
Visit the hardware store — Among the most common causes of “unintentional deaths” are carbon monoxide, radon and lead poisoning, the CDC reports. Make sure there’s a carbon monoxide detector near every bedroom, and be sure to test and replace the batteries every two years. Was your home built before 1978, when lead paint was outlawed? One trip to the store can get you all you need to test for these toxic substances.
Slang Word Of The Day
Word: Cap
Definition: An older but still relevant term, cap means to lie. If you say "no cap" it means you are being authentic or truthful.
Used in a Sentence: “I won four straight times in mini-putt no cap.”

Drug offers ‘wonderful’ breakthrough in treatment of asbestos-linked cancer
Scientists have developed a drug to treat mesothelioma, a notoriously hard-to-treat cancer linked to asbestos, in the biggest breakthrough in two decades.
Thousands of people are diagnosed with the disease globally every year, which tends to develop in the lungs and is mainly caused by exposure to asbestos at work. It is aggressive and deadly, and has one of the world’s worst cancer survival rates.
Hopes rise by survival of Lahaina’s banyan tree
The shaded Lahaina square where tourists once milled beneath the town’s famed banyan tree has become the domain of volunteer papaya, tomato and lilikoi sprouts.
“We know what the birds are eating,” Maui County Arborist Timothy Griffith said Wednesday morning after ducking under a yellow rope lining the sidewalk along Front Street. The impromptu garden and encouraging signs of life in the canopy above provide hope six months after the windswept fire that transformed colorful Lahaina into a smoking, ash-gray ruin.
