Top 10 Benefits of Self-Esteem After 60
How often do you find yourself being self-critical of your looks, health, finances, and your overall life?
Low self-esteem refers to a negative perception of oneself, often accompanied by feelings of inadequacy, self-doubt, and self-criticism. People with low self-esteem may struggle with loving themselves which shows up in a lack of confidence, difficulty asserting themselves, and may be more prone to feelings of anxiety and depression.
On the other hand, individuals with healthy self-esteem tend to have a positive outlook, believe in their abilities, and have a sense of worthiness and deservingness.
Cultivating self-esteem can have numerous, life-altering benefits over 60.
If you work for the U.S. government, you probably signed up for the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) program when you were hired. The FEHB provides coverage for medical expenses, including prescription medications and dental and vision care. You can also sign up for a Flexible Spending Account and choose from three life insurance options.
But you won’t be on the job forever. While you can keep your federal employee health insurance after retirement, there are some requirements you’ll need to be aware of as you start planning.
LONGEVITY TIP OF THE DAY
Biofeedback Therapy — Biofeedback is using machines or devices to learn to read our own body’s responses to things like stress or changes in health. You can talk to your healthcare provider about using machines that let you track things like breathing, heart rate, or even your sweat glands. These can all be things that change when you’re stressed or feeling tense. By “seeing” your body do these things through an app or a machine, you can learn to control them, e.g., by slowing your breathing down or learning muscle relaxation techniques, and watching your body respond.
