What's your favorite part of RetireHub? |
(We’ll use these results to help improve RetireHub in the future)
Yesterday’s Poll Results - How are you approaching estate and inheritance planning to ensure your legacy is preserved?
Over 60% of RetireHub members feel “Drafting a will and trust documents” is the best way to ensure their legacy is preserved, with second place going to “Communicating wishes and plans clearly with family members.”
Thanks to everyone who voted and commented!
Best of the Comments:
“I want everything mapped out clearly. I never want my children to fight about an estate after I am gone. Everyone will see the documents and be clear while I am alive and coherent. ”
“Did a will and trust over fifteen years ago so we didn't wait until too late. Also did living wills for medical issues.”
“Did a will — that way no one can fight over anything.”
We had our artist depict RetireHub members going deep-sea diving!

Strong Roots for A Strong You
I find myself drawn to big and mighty trees whose branches extend wide in all directions. I can sit for long periods of time, staring at their majesty and absorbing their beauty, strength and energy. It feels like communing directly with God.
But how does a tree get that way? Trees have a life force we cannot see – their roots. When the roots of a tree are strong and healthy, they extend wide in all directions beneath the soil, just as the tree’s branches extend above. Strong roots anchor the tree in the ground, providing everything it needs to thrive.
Budgeting for the 4 Financial Phases of Retirement
During your working years, “retirement” can seem like a faraway goal rather than a phase of life. But once it arrives, it becomes pretty clear that there’s more than one phase of retirement. There’s the early phase, which involves making a retirement budget and preparing to make the move. Then there’s the earlier phase post-retirement, where you’re still getting your spending down and working out how much to take from savings. But as you shift to the middle and later phases, you’ll still need to balance things out.
No matter where you are in preparing for retirement, budgeting is essential. Here are some tips to help you set a budget and manage it from your early through your late retirement phases.
LONGEVITY TIP OF THE DAY
Stop Sitting Still — If you don’t feel you have time to exercise, consider this: You may not need to hit the global minimum recommendations of 30 minutes a day, five or more times per week, to extend your life. A 2022 study found that 15-20 minutes of vigorous activity per week, accrued in short bursts, was linked to a lower risk of dying prematurely.

It all started in 1963 when Laverne Biser packed up his bags and headed for Maine to witness his first eclipse. Six decades later, his love for this rare celestial event has taken him places he'd never visited before — and he's been taking photos of them ever since.
