You are not alone if you’re experiencing chronic back pain. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 7.6 million older adults suffer from back and spine problems. It is significant enough of a problem that it severely impacts the quality of life of millions of Baby Boomers.
So, how does your back pain become a chronic, constant, or persistent problem?
There’s at least one thing certain in life, both before and after retirement: taxes. If you receive retirement income, you’ll need to determine what taxes you owe on that money to avoid an unpleasant surprise on Tax Day. You might assume, then, that the answer to “Is pension income taxable?” is pretty straightforward.
But are pensions taxable? Yes and no. The answer depends on whether you paid taxes on the money before you contributed it to your retirement fund.
LONGEVITY TIP OF THE DAY
Look on the bright side—Many who make it past 100 in good health credit an optimistic outlook. More than mere wishful thinking, positive beliefs around aging may extend our lives by as much as seven and a half years, according to research by Becca Levy, an epidemiologist at Yale University’s School of Public Health. The power of optimism may even outweigh the steps we take to exercise, lower our blood pressure and cholesterol, and watch our weight.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY
A wildlife fan has struck up an extraordinary friendship with a young fox after he noticed she was ill.
Bob Dunlop realized the fox had developed mange on her tail after spying her lack of hair on wildlife cameras set up near his home in Littleport, Cambridgeshire.
The 69-year-old worked out where the animal’s den was located and began to treat the cub by feeding it bread with a homeopathic remedy recommended by a wildlife expert.
Vancouver resident Michael Sanchez told KOIN 6 News that he was photographing Hug Point Falls at sunrise when he noticed a little bird near the shoreline.
“I happened to look behind me toward the ocean and saw this cute little bird standing on the sand,” Sanchez said.
Sanchez was unaware that he had photographed the first known blue rock thrush sighting in U.S. history.
