Salmon Return to Klamath Basin After Over a Century!
The first salmon have been spotted in Oregon's Klamath Basin after a 112-year absence, all thanks to the recent removal of four hydroelectric dams. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife confirmed the sighting of a fall-run Chinook salmon in a tributary on October 16th, marking a significant milestone for fish conservation efforts.
This moment brings hope and excitement not just for our ecosystems but for the dedicated tribes and advocates who fought long and hard for this change. It’s a wonderful reminder that nature has a way of bouncing back when we give it a chance!
