TV journalist Elizabeth “E.M.” Danniher is forced to reinvent her career after aging out of the spotlight and making an enemy of her powerful ex-husband. Now reporting toaster troubles in rural Wyoming, she’s unexpectedly pulled into a murder mystery that challenges her wit, sharpens her instincts, and rekindles old romantic tension with a charming but ambitious colleague. As secrets unravel and a young girl begs for help, Elizabeth must prove she’s far from finished—and that small towns can hold just as much danger as the big leagues.

On this day in 1941, the Mount Rushmore National Memorial was officially completed after 14 years of work. Carved into the granite face of South Dakota’s Black Hills, the monument features the 60-foot heads of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln—chosen to represent the nation’s birth, growth, development, and preservation. Though originally intended to include the presidents down to their waists, funding ran out, and the project was declared finished on October 31.

Yoga Modifications for Mature Bodies: Flexibility Without the Flop

Yoga isn’t just for the young, bendy, and barefoot—it’s for everyone, and that includes people in their 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond. In fact, many longtime practitioners will tell you that yoga only gets better with age. That said, our bodies do change over time, and the key to a safe and satisfying yoga practice is knowing how to modify poses to suit your unique needs.

Whether you’re managing joint stiffness, balance concerns, or simply a body that doesn’t move quite like it used to, gentle yoga and thoughtful modifications can keep your practice both accessible and enjoyable. The goal isn’t to twist into a pretzel—it’s to feel grounded, spacious, and connected to your breath.

One simple shift? Use props. Blocks, straps, bolsters, folded blankets—even a sturdy chair—can turn intimidating poses into supportive ones. For example, seated forward bends can be done on a chair instead of the floor, and Downward Dog becomes more forgiving when your hands are on a wall or countertop.

Balance a concern? Standing poses like Tree or Warrior II can be done near a wall or with a chair for support. Even experienced yogis use a “balance buddy” now and then—there’s no shame in it! The key is stability first, ego second.

Protect the joints. Knees, wrists, and hips often need extra care. A folded blanket under the knees, skipping or softening deep lunges, or doing Cat-Cow with forearms on a chair can make a world of difference. It’s all about listening to your body and moving with kindness.

And perhaps most important: breathe. The breath is the heart of yoga, and focusing on slow, steady inhales and exhales is often more beneficial than nailing the perfect pose. Even a short, 10-minute breath-focused practice can calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and increase mental clarity.

Yoga at any age is a gift. With a few modifications and a curious spirit, it can meet you exactly where you are—and help you feel a little more at home in your body every day.

If you practice yoga or are curious about starting, what’s most important to you?

Find the Right Home for You and Your Pet

Finding a pet‑friendly home isn’t just about space and love—it’s also about smart planning and knowing exactly what to ask before you settle. First, work with an agent who understands pet rules in your target area so you avoid surprises like owner animal weight limits or breed bans. Check what's allowed: is there a fenced yard, are stairs manageable for you and your furry friend, what kind of flooring is in the unit? Also important—scan the surrounding neighborhood: vet clinics, dog parks, even sidewalks for safe walks matter. Some homes look pet‑friendly on the surface, but hidden rules can make life complicated. Doing your homework ensures you and your companion will feel welcome, comfortable, and right at home together.
